The paleo diet is commonly known as the "caveman" diet, it is considered one of the healthiest diets in the world to be on. Paleo is short for Paleolithic, this describes the period in time when cavemen were still wandering. During this period humans were hunter gatherers and never ate certain foods such as grains or dairy, their bodies were genetically coded to only eat what was hunted or gathered. Over the following years human bodies have adapted to allow us to eat other food groups, all of which are not as good for us. A large majority of what we consume is processed and packaged; and these are the foods that you should try to eat less of.

The paleo diet allows you to eat specific foods which would have been available for cavemen; these include seafood, game meats, berries, eggs, fruits, coconut milk and nuts. Although they would have eaten vegetables and chicken these would have been naturally grown and reared using no chemicals, pesticides or artificial foods. The chickens would have only been fed grains and naturally found foods which were available at the time. To get the best from the Paleo diet you need to understand food well, and know which foods are good for you and which ones aren't.

There is no set limit for you to eat on the paleo diet you simply have to eat until you are full. You do have to remember that you are not to eat any additives or preservatives just natural food. So you should not use any cooking oils, sugars, salts and starchy foods. The cooking methods need to be similar to the caveman period; the game meat and fish should be roasted to achieve the full paleo diet. The way we eat today consists of far too many omega 6 fats and not enough omega 3 fats.

People who have tried the paleo diet have agreed that it achieves great results; you will have more energy, feel and look better. The paleo diet will cleanse your whole body and strengthen your mind as it takes great will power to achieve results. You will benefit from the paleo diet, and although it may not suit everybody you should at least try it and see how you feel after a short time. Once you begin to lose weight and feel better about your body, you will want to stay on the paleo diet and change your whole lifestyle. You will soon realize that you do not need the additives and preservatives that we are forced to consume on a daily basis.
